Good Ole Barry gave the world a new way grove and feel toward music. His love making music and attitude allowed people of all eras to move to his music. The hustle was a huge new dance that was performed to much of Barry’s music. Barry White was so inspirational that his music traveled through decades keeping the spirit of the 70’s alive. What’s amazing is how many people today still listen to Barry’s music. kids in their twenties are still dancing and listening to his music. His music attracted all demographics and by the power of movement (dancing) is still kept alive.

The mucic in the 1950’s was pure and innocent. As time rolled through into the 60’s The Temptations became a huge hit. A new persepective in the music world developed. People began to hear more songs of powerful emotions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfyFI-4ZsaE The “Swing” or commonly known as “the bop” http://howtojive.com/intro-ballroom-jive.htm , was a huge dance back in the 60’s and much of it was danced to music sung by The Temptations.

Their music opened the door for many other African American music groups. The Temptations were previously known as “The Temps.” Their transition from Doo Wop to Motown, then to Disco, and R&B is what made them so remember-able. What made them recognizable was their unique choreography, harmony and, costumes. Their style captured the audience and listeners from all over the nation. http://www.thetemptations.net/main.html

From the 50’s to present time African American Music Artists have made a significant change to our culture and for the Black American. Artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, The Temptations, Barry White, Tina Turner, Whitney Huston, and Luther Vandross all made significant changes to music and how the decades of their era we’re affected.

These two singers brought much to society during the peak of their careers. During the mid to late 50’s race was a controversal issue and breaking into the music business was difficult for some. However, they have proven to not allow racism get in their way.
What is also interesting to me is how similar the music melodies are throughout the generations. They all follow a common theme of love in a classic way which represents women in a positive light. The Temptations made many songs about the look of a woman and the way the artist feels about that particular woman.
Hello world!

I grew up in a family who always danced. They danced to music of their era. My grandparents always enjoyed Ella Fitzgerald and played Nat King Cole at Christmas time. Those traditions haven’t stopped to listening to this type of music. These two artists have a way of taking you on a magical ride where you forget all of your worries. You listen with a smile and your shoe tapping amongst the floor.
